I'm Catherine Beyers, and I have a passion for all things beautiful. Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself..
Since I was a little girl, I have been ever fascinated with the glitz & glam of big dreams. I was raised on a farm in a small town in the midwest. Being a farmers daughter, I always had an appreciation for nature & beauty. I enjoyed playing in my mothers flower beds, rolling in the green grass of our plush yard, running through fields of wheat, tractor rides, and watching the sunsets from the hay loft window of the barn. Although, I loved running barefoot, and wasn't afraid of getting dirty, I had another side of me that oozed out of me like glitter glue. I had an obsession for anything that sparkled, the spotlight of big city dreams, and of course every fairytale princess, clothes, shoes and jewelry galore. Even at a small age, I knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry, it just so happened that the mall & the salon were my favorite places to visit. Fashion magazines, shopping, and my pixie cut that I rocked at the age of 12 made my small corner of the world not so small... I took dance lessons starting at 4 years old, piano lessons at the age of 8, and also played soccer in the fall with my fellow classmates. As I grew older, I found fashion and beauty to be a constant interest of mine.
I spent years finding solace and passion on center stage at my local dance studio, participating in all forms of dance. Although I enjoyed the dancing & stage life, that wasn't the only thrill of being a performer. The other half was where all the magic took place, and that was back stage in hair, makeup & costumes. The show couldn't go on without 10 layers of eyeshadow, a bold lip & an entire can of hairspray. Honestly though, I can't lie, my favorite was the spray glitter.
After years of dance, pom squad and cheerleading, I suffered knee injuries that set me back in my dancing career. At the age of 14, I had 3 knee surgries within a year and a half. Forcing me to put dance to the side until I was 16. In the mean time, I had done deep soul searching, spiritual growth and self discovery. I began writing, short poems, journaling and whatever came to mind, as a self therapy to deal with the "loss" of dance from my life.. After 2 years of physical therapy, hard work, sweat and tears, I went back to the studio full of fire to continue what my heart loved to do, only to find that it was no longer the activity that brought me joy. I then pursued the arts in other ways, I was fortunate enough to become part of the theatre program at my high school. There I was able to continue to feed my inner spotlight that enjoyed the rush of performing and bringing joy to others..
As the years went by, theatre, chorus, and art classes grew to be the best parts of my day. People always say once you find your niche everything else falls into place, and all I knew was although I obtained the soul of a performer, I couldn't give up the dream of being a person in the world who would somehow give back, make an impact on others, and living and breathing what it means to uplift an individual..I wanted to be a Hairstylist.
The idea of being the magic behind the chair as a stylist called to me more and more each day. I finally enrolled in Paul Mitchell The School Normal, IL after graduating high school in 2012 and so my beauty journey began.... There I gained an education, perspective & opportunities that have lead me to where I am today. My education was a solid foundation, and I LOVED every minute of it. Working with my hands, building relationships with classmates and guests, all the while soaking knowledge up like a sponge. I knew chemistry in high school wasn't my favorite subject, but something about hair color chemistry all clicked together like pieces of a puzzle. In many moments like that one, it became more and more clear to me that I was pursuing what I was created to do. I graduated Cosmetology School in 2013 and have been active in the beauty industry ever since!
I have worked with photographers, entered hair and makeup contests, styled hair/makeup for local benefits and fashion shows, and I am always traveling to find the most up to date/trending education classes. I work with natural plant based haircare products and color lines;Monat & Pravana. I am an eco-friendly stylist who is always working on bettering my working environment, and providing these products helps to achieve a toxin free lifestyle both in my home and at the salon. I am also Balayage and Hair Extension Certified, specializing in hair color.
Nothing makes my heart happier then turning my client around in the chair to watch their face light up with excitement and gratitude in the mirror. A fresh cut and color can make you feel like you can rule the world, and a big SMILE is the best THANK YOU!
